The world science festival released their lineup for this june. This year i am going to try to get to as many of these events as i can afford. It’s so strange to see so much science and cultural celebrities mingling. Here is a partial list (not many women!):
Mets win! and the science of baseball

Nice win to start the season. Even though the bats did not come through enough, Murphy demonstrated he has the tools, and the bullpen showed how different it was from last year. Let’s celebrate!….today. The world science fair, which is affiliated with super-physicist Brian Greene, visited the Mets last year, and discussed something that isn’t spoken about enough (especially on sports radio), the science of baseball:

Large X-class Flare Erupts on the Sun
On Jan. 27, 2012, a large X-class flare erupted from an active region near the solar west limb. X-class flares are the most powerful of all solar events. Seen here is an image of the flare captured by the X-ray telescope on Hinode.
