Supporters of embryonic stem cell research are poised to celebrate the possible announcement of President Obama’s plans to rescind the Bush administration’s ban on using new embryonic stem cell lines. Now, there is news of moderate republican support on ending the ban.
There is the surreal story of the Suleman octuplets (and their six other siblings) whose mother broke a new record for in-vitro fertilization baby yield. It has triggered a national controversy concerning the medical ethics behind supporting the mother’s decision to have her extra embryos implanted even with her uncertain economic and personal situation.
