by Greg on Nov.21, 2009, under Science Life Alert, Science Life Video
For you artists and people who like to mix their science and creativity jones and are looking for some inspiration, there are 11 (soon to be 12) Dorkbot presentations up on DorkBot’s Vimeo page. They range from electronic projects at elementary schools, personal indoor farms for nyc apartments, dolls mutated into sexy robots, and other incredibly interesting visions from artists all around. They were captured by me and edited by my good friend Joe Frey. We are calling this little thing of ours Content Content and will continue to bring you an archive of Dorkbot -NYC’s exciting presentations.
Dorkbot meets every the first Wednesday of every month at 7p at Location 1 in soho. (continue reading…)

Let’s take a tour around Science Life NY
by Greg on Aug.19, 2009, under Science Life Alert
Just like to give an update to everyone about what you can read on Science Life NY lately. As of today, I have five contributors writing about how they interact with science in their daily lives. More on them later. I have been torn on how to present the many science and political news i come across through the many digital (and magazine) media outlets i consume. I used to create these time consuming super posts of stories i find interesting. I then tried to use the share function on my Google Reader, but that did not seem to work. No one found that click worthy. I already had a twitter account (@sciencelifeny) that was pumping out my posts to my friends following me. Only recently have i found it to be a better way to bring attention to the articles, pictures, stories and media i find interesting.
New Science Channel shows: Future Of and Headgames
by Greg on Aug.10, 2009, under Science Life Alert
Science Channel has been very fortunate to occupy the niche it does in the cable channel universe. Save for PBS, who has to split its time with history and cultural programming, it is science nerd’s paradise. Due to emphasis on more technical and advanced science and engineering faire, it is able to never limit its programming to easy subjects. It has a healthy relationship with BBC intellectual property, and it has its pick of the more impressive discovery channel content, like mythbusters.

New York Academy of Sciences has new look online
by Greg on Jun.22, 2009, under Science Life Alert
Just got a tweet of the new beta website of New York Academy of Sciences and Science and the City. It looks great. They made an attempt to show two of the better aspects of NYAS: its ever-increasing library of worthwhile content, and its event listings. The site is such an improvement, i felt compelled to complete their survey.
Open Video Conference on Now
by Greg on Jun.19, 2009, under Science Life Alert
I am currently watching a live feed of the open video conference, and i am super jealous. As you may know, i am a supporter of the open movement, and this is a great moment to see how far the tech has come. Currently, i am capturing and netcasting forums and events at the NYU medical center, and i hope they adopt this far reaching vision of how video can be done online. Hat tip to stacey at slightlyoverexposed.com for letting me know about this! Science needs to see how that improving the speed of research lies in open access to information! I am going to embed the rest of the afternoon after the break. enjoy! (continue reading…)
