Water water everywhere…in the news. There is the controversial plan for natural gas drilling in the sensitive upstate NY region that gives water to this fine city; there is debate over how effective dredging the hudson for harmful PCB’s really has been; is water on the moon? is it on mars? and there’s always drought, somewhere. Our bodies are made up mainly of water, yet we still place so little value on our global water infrastructure that President Obama has called it “one of the grand challenges facing the 21st century.” Issues include universal access to clean water, the politics of water supply, and the crumbling water infrastructure which poses threats in even the most economically developed nations. Learn more about it at this event, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and held at the NYAS Conference Center here in lower Manhattan.
