Science Lecture
Wednesday Sept 2Seven Ways of Looking at the Hudson
It’s been almost exactly 400 years since Henry Hudson, English explorer and navigator for the Dutch East India Company, arrived at the river which would later bear his name. This talk celebrates the quadricentennial of the event by examining the ancient and modern history of the river. The Hudson River is central to both the human and the biological history of New York City, and author Betsy McCully (City at the Water’s Edge: A Natural History of New York) will expose you to new perspectives on this body of water we all take for granted, including geological, ecological, environmental outlooks and more. All of these add up to the event’s title, “Seven Ways of Looking at the Hudson.”
