Daniela Kostova & Olivia Robinson: Waste to Work

Follow the link for more info on this really clever and ingenious venture by two Science-artists. This particular presentation captures one aspect of dorkbot that i love: people who want to present science and art as a public work or humanitarian statement. The crowd having its technical cohort, became preoccupied with the energy possibilities of the project, and to the artists’ chagrin, lost sight of the bigger picture of what the project hoped to capture.

Work is more than a paycheck. it is a universal law of energy. Even a benign bi-product like sweat is a remnant of that energy. Just like Einstein demonstrated over a century ago, mass and energy are interchangeable. It makes you wonder then, how do we value that work. Is the work we do with our muscles more valuable than the work we do with our minds? Should we value doing things more than just thinking about them?
