Lowes just doesn’t get it

In order to push product, every floor model of fridge was plugged in and running! Now, realize that there were about 30+ floor models. And lowes has over 1600 stores in the US and Canada. That’s alot of empty fridges sucking energy. When I asked the manager what was up with that, he said, well they ARE energy star fridges…
Even if Lowes doesn’t see how ridiculously wasteful and how much that contributes to global warming, how are they not concerned with decreasing energy costs?
I can see the appeal with having functional fridges to show off all the new gadgets of the modern icebox, but there has to be a way to at least turn off the compressor. The cabins were cold inside!
I recall reading once how big box companies like walmart were guilty of being major polluters with their old tech carbon producing transportation methods, but rarely do I hear how these huge warehouse stores, massive spaces usually air conditioned to a frigid 65 degrees, are carbon monsters. I am curious to see if these organizations are afraid of possible cap and trade legislation?
