MUSIC: A Camp and Gentleman are both at Bowery Ballroom tonight. The former features Nina Persson who you know and love from the Cardigans (don’t try to deny it). We sort of love this video, and also (as you can see) their latest album cover.
8 p.m. // Bowery Ballroom [6 Delancey St] // $17
EVENT: Behold: Slutty Puppets! “Slutty Puppets is sloshy, squishy, rag-tag, and dirty. Filled with puppets, presents, and clowns, Slutty Puppets is an evening of wacko performance acts. Very short and very sweet. Between 8-10 puppet variety acts, under 10 minutes each, grab the stage, work the stage, and love the stage in very special ways that only puppets and their friends can.”
7 p.m. // Galapagos [16 Main St, DUMBO] // $7
READING: Author and musician Mike Edison is hitting the road in the County of Kings to promote the recession-priced (aka paperback) edition of his memoir, I Have Fun Everywhere I Go! He kicks off the Brooklyn tour at Book Court and the night will feature the Interstellar Groove Machine, a Rube Goldberg contraption featuring electric organ, a tape loop generator, and theremin. Also joining in will be the notorious Brooklyn beatnik Trans-Atlantic Friedman.
7 p.m. // Book Court [, Cobble Hill] // Free
GARDEN PARTY: MoMA’s annual Party in the Garden takes place tonight. Note that attire requirements have changed, and the event is no longer black tie (though it is cocktail attire, whatever that means). The highlight will be the After-Dinner Reception, which runs from 9 p.m. to midnight and will feature a live performance from the Grammy-winning singer Estelle, and tunes spun by DJ Cassidy. More details here.
7 p.m. // MoMA [11 W 53rd St] // $100 and up
