Open Science: good for research, good for researchers?

by on May.04, 2009, under Science Life

I really love the action that Columbia is taking when it comes to the idea of open science, creating transparency of thought and data in the science community because of viable technologies popping up everyday. The era of the FLV, podcast, low storage costs and youtube gives an opportunity to scientists to show everyone how they do their research.  I went to this lecture a couple of months ago, and of course, Columbia made it available within days. I forgot to post it, but Jim reminded me today. It’s long, but it’s definitely something i think people in science should watch, because eventually, it will be the future of how science findings and techniques are taught, discussed and disseminated. It was also great to see scienceblogs’ Blog around the clock, and Public library of science writer, Bora Zivkovic there.  The lecture is part of the scholarly communucation series at Columbia. The lecture is HERE.
